Ad Libs – Huge Impact and Build up
Towards the End of a Song

Ad libs are a great way to build up momentum towards the end of a song, usually in the final chorus. They’re these short spontaneous vocal melodies based on key words of the song, that the lead singer improvises on top of the main melody. Also, they can be just a generic “wooh yeah” -type of thing. The word ad lib comes from latin word “ad libitum” which means “with freedom”.

In this video I want to show you how I use ad libs to make my final choruses more interesting and impactful. Got a few examples for you. I also demonstrate how they can be mixed. Hopefully this gives you inspiration and some ideas in your own songs and projects.

Hopefully you found this post helpful. If there’s anything you want me to cover in the future videos let me know. Send me an email or leave a comment below. Ask if there’s anything unclear or if I left something out. Cheers!
